About Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy

Advanced Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy Services

Our state-of-the-art Endoscopy Suite offers comprehensive diagnostic and advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including Upper GI Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound), Polypectomy, and Emergency Hemostasis.
"Our commitment is simple — every patient, every condition, every time. We bring world-class digestive care to your doorstep."

The Department of Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy at Gastro Liver Hospital is a premier center of excellence for advanced minimally invasive gastrointestinal interventions. Our endoscopy suite is equipped with high-definition video endoscopes, Narrow-Band Imaging (NBI), and state-of-the-art fluoroscopic units, enabling accurate diagnosis and instantaneous non-surgical treatment of complex digestive disorders.

We perform the complete spectrum of diagnostic examinations—including upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, high-definition colonoscopy, enteroscopy, and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). Through optical magnification and chromoendoscopy, our endoscopists detect mucosal changes, early precancerous lesions, Barrett’s esophagus, and subtle polyps long before they progress into advanced malignancies.

In therapeutic endoscopy, our experts excel in advanced procedures that traditionally required open surgery. These include Therapeutic ERCP for clearing common bile duct stones and relieving obstructive jaundice, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) for tumor/polyp removal, balloon dilation for luminal strictures, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) placement, and EUS-guided drainage of pancreatic fluid collections and pseudocysts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an Endoscopy or Colonoscopy painful?

No. At our center, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures are typically performed under conscious sedation (short-acting sleep-inducing medication) administered by an anesthesiologist. Patients do not feel pain or discomfort during the procedure and wake up comfortably shortly afterward.

What preparation is needed before an Upper GI Endoscopy?

Patients must fast (no food or liquids) for at least 6 to 8 hours prior to an upper endoscopy to ensure the stomach is completely empty for clear visualization and to prevent any aspiration risk.

What preparation is needed before an Upper GI Endoscopy?
What is the bowel preparation required for a Colonoscopy?

A clean colon is essential for accurate visualization. Patients are prescribed a special oral bowel-cleansing solution (such as polyethylene glycol) to take the evening before or morning of the procedure, along with a clear liquid diet.

What is the difference between Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy?

Diagnostic endoscopy focuses on visual inspection, biopsy, and identifying the cause of symptoms (such as ulcers, inflammation, or tumors). Therapeutic endoscopy goes beyond diagnosis to actively treat conditions during the same session—such as removing polyps, stopping bleeding, dilating strictures, or removing bile duct stones.

How long do I need to stay in the hospital after an endoscopic procedure?

Most diagnostic endoscopies, colonoscopies, and routine polypectomies are daycare procedures. Patients are observed in our recovery lounge for 1 to 2 hours until the sedative wears off, after which they can return home the same day with a family member.
